‘I’ve been a wild rover for many’s the year. I’ve spent all me money on whiskey and beer. But now I’m returning with gold in great store. And I never will play the wild rover no more. And it’s No, Nay, never, No, nay never no more…’
No, surprisingly not the inspiration for naming the ‘Red Wing 2950 Rover’. It’s actually the name given to machine operators in the early twentieth- century cotton mills.
They say that every cloud has a silver lining.
After the disappointment of hearing that Red Wing are discontinuing the Classic Round 9111, we were introduced to the 2950 Rover. A not so shabby alternative we think.
Currently we’re stocking the Copper Rough and Tough 2950. It’s a 6 inch boot with round toe and Goodyear welt construction for durability and good looks.
It has a cushion crepe shock absorbing sole making it extra comfy while providing traction on many different surfaces.
The sole was first introduced by Red Wing back in 1953 and was found on their ‘model 766 cush-n-crepe all around work shoe’ right up to the 1980s.
