Genius Footwear Celebrates First Birthday Party with UK Band ‘Missing Andy’ Performing an Exclusive Acoustic Live Gig in their Exchequer Street store.
Dublin retailer Genius celebrated the first birthday party of their Exchequer Street footwear store tonight, with British band Missing Andy performing an exclusive in store gig.
Hot on the heels of winning ‘Best Unsigned British Band 2014’ last week, the Essex-based band were in Ireland for the first time, courtesy of Base London shoes, for whom Missing Andy are the firm’s brand ambassadors.
The gig was also to promote the launch of the UK manufacturer’s new Autumn Winter Collection. Over the course of this week Genius has given away €1,000 worth of Base London shoes and boots to 10 lucky competition winners. And tonight, to celebrate the occasion, they also knocked 20% off all men’s and ladies footwear in the packed store.
Jason Kavanagh, of Genius, said: “It was great to see so many people come down to the store to help us celebrate, have a few drinks and listen to some great music. Thanks to Missing Andy and Base London for helping to make it such a success. I hadn’t realised the band had so many fans in Dublin. The place was buzzing after such a phenomenal performance by the guys. We hope they come back soon.”

The collection comprises of a selection of formal styles perfect for work and play, a comfortable casual collection to satisfy the weekend warrior and a broad boot range that displays both smart and vintage leathers.
The Base London AW14 collection takes inspiration from London’s underground music scene, where packed out bars and clubs under the capital’s streets play host to the latest big name bands and unsigned gems, playing a variety of sounds and attracting a wide audience for whom style is influenced by the beat.
The formal collection has developed a unique and contemporary handwriting, displaying a variety of high quality leathers finishes onto chunky durable sole units. An offer of brogues and other trend-led styles provides the perfect work and after hours footwear solution.
The casual collection also combines play with function, blending comfort with style. The collection takes on a hybrid edge mixing high quality leather uppers onto durable and comfortable rubber sole units. Hardwearing and ready for action the casual collection is built for both the gig goer and gig player.
Finally a heavy-duty range of boots, perfect for the harsh winter months, reveal heavily engineered uppers – bold details, brash trims and vintage leathers to create a strong and determined look inspired by the classic biker fashions.
About Missing Andy
Missing Andy formed in 2008 and have since released 3 albums, various Eps and had 2 top 40 hits in the UK. Hailing from the depths of Essex, Missing Andy have built a loyal fan base across Europe with their anthemic choruses, energetic live shows and candid lyrical approach.
The band would describe their sound as a mongrel breed of the best British music from the last 30 years, blending indie, rock, ska and pop seamlessly. It is fitting then that Missing Andy won ‘Best British Unsigned Band’ during a recent poll held by www.bestofbritishunsigned.com.
Steve (Guitarist) from the band says, “The ‘Best of British Award’ was a nice surprise! It seemed to pop up out of nowhere really, but it’s great to see our fans fight for us online and we’re very grateful for it. We’ve had a bit of time off recently after releasing and touring our 3rd album – Guerrilla Invasion pt.2, but i think this is just the fuel we needed to light the fires and get us started on album 4, probably for 2015.
Missing Andy have been ambassadors of Base London shoes for over two years now, working closely with the brand as part of their marketing campaigns. This will be the band’s first time in Dublin and are looking forward to playing in-store at Genius.
